We are a family of believers who gather around Word and Sacrament, confessing the Gospel as the power of God to create and sustain the Church for God's mission in the world.
Whether you are a lifelong Lutheran, new to the faith, or simply searching — you are welcome here. We believe the Church exists not for itself, but for the world God loves.
Preamble
What We Believe
We, baptized members of the Church of Christ, responding in faith to the call of the Holy Spirit through the Gospel, desiring to unite together to preach the Word, administer the sacaments, and carry out God's mission, do hereby adopt the consititution of St. Mark's Lutheran Church LCMC and solemnly pledge ourselves to be governed by its provisions. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
JESUS CHRIST IS LORD AND SAVIOR
We confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the Gospel as the power of God for the salvation of all who believe. Jesus Christ is the Word of God incarnate, through whom everything was made and through whose life, death and resurrection God fashions a new creation.
The Ecumenical Creeds
We confess the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed as faithful summaries of the Christian faith, drawn directly from Holy Scripture.
The Augsburg Confession
The Augsburg Confession (1530) is the primary confessional document of the Lutheran Church, presenting the evangelical faith in its fullness and catholicity.
The Book of Concord
We accept the other Confessional Writings in the Book of Concord — the Apology, the Smalcald Articles, the Small and Large Catechisms, and the Formula of Concord — as valid interpretations of the faith of the Church.
The Gospel
The Gospel — the good news that God justifies sinners by grace through faith in Jesus Christ — is the heart of all we confess, preach, and teach.
The Sacraments
We believe Baptism and the Lord's Supper are means of grace through which God delivers the forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation. In Holy Communion, Christ is truly present in, with, and under the bread and wine.

Meet Our Pastor

Hi, I am Pastor Joshua Morgan, as the pastor of St..Mark's Lutheran Church it is both a joy and a privilege to serve the wonderful community of Blythewood, South Carolina. I was raised in Elgin, S.C. and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Religion. I continued my education at Lutheran Theological Seminary in Columbia, S.C. receiving a master's degree. Continuing my studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte, N.C. I was ordained in the North American Lutheran Church (NALC) and duel rostered with Lutherans in Mission for Christ (LCMC) and have had the privilege of serving congregations in Newberry, S.C, and Kings Mountain, N.C. when in 2021 was called to serve as pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran Church LCMC.. My ministry has been a blessing to continue my growing in faith, alongside of the good people at SMLC. I look forward to continuing to walk alongside the people of Blythewood; as we seek to share the love, grace and hope of Jesus Christ. Serving our community with the Gospel and spreading Hope in the community is what I love most about serving the congregation here at St. Mark's Lutheran Church (LCMC).
